This course is designed for children entering Year 5 in September 2026 who are preparing for grammar school and independent school entrance examinations.

Class size: Maximum 6 students

What your child will learn

Students develop confidence and skill across all key 11+ writing formats, including:

• Stories and descriptions
• Recounts and diary entries
• Informal and formal letters
• Discursive and persuasive essays
• Persuasive speeches

The course also develops essential writing skills such as planning, paragraphing, vocabulary, sentence structure, literary devices and editing.

Curriculum information

The Year 5 curriculum is planned across the full academic year, allowing skills to be revisited and developed over time.

All key 11+ writing skills are taught and practised each term. However, not every writing format is covered every term.

Children are welcome to join for a single term, although many families choose to remain for the full academic year (or longer). If your child is joining mid-year or for one term only, please contact Anna for a curriculum overview showing the specific text types that will be covered during that term.

Booking information

To reserve a place, please pay the 10% deposit (£54.50).

Terms and conditions

A more detailed set of terms and conditions will be provided upon booking. The key points are outlined below.

• One child per booking.

• Classes are recorded and shared with enrolled families only.

• Weekly lesson recordings are provided if your child cannot attend a class.

• Work may still be submitted for feedback if a lesson is missed.

• Cameras should remain on during lessons to support participation and feedback.

• If, after the first lesson, you feel the course is not suitable for your child, any deposit paid will be refunded.

• After the first lesson, the remaining course fee may be paid in full or in three instalments.

• Families may leave the course at any point during the term. A refund will be provided for any lessons that have been paid for but not yet taken.
