Varying sentence structure - delayed adjectives

30.05.25

Following on from last week, here’s another quick tip on spicing up those sentences! 🌶🌶🌶
Last week, we looked at opening adjectives.

This week, let’s try some ‘delayed adjectives’.

1. Read this sentence (it goes with the image on this post):

The large and unblinking eye watched me intently.

2. Take the two adjectives and put them after the noun, in between two commas.

The eye, large and unblinking, watched me intently.

Here is another example switched around
* The gnarled and distorted branches seemed to close in around me.
* Branches, gnarled and distorted, seemed to close in around me.

Can you try this one?
The spiky and razor-sharp leaves protected the forest king from intruders.

Thanks for having a go!
