Children's writing: Continue the story - by Rayan

09.02.23

This is a superb piece of writing, Rayan. Your task was to continue the story from Chapter 6, and you have perfectly captured the characters and the totally terrifying leather men!

You have sued spectacular similes and personification, as well as brilliantly chosen adjectives and verbs to build the scary atmosphere of this scene in the winter forest.

Examples:

  • thick, skull white snow
  • skeletal skies
  • screaming snow winds blanketed the trees
  • death-like silence echoed through the forest.
  • bulging brain
  • skin like the shell of a crab
  • dagger-like feet
  •  eyes like empty vessels.

Thank you, Rayan.

Let's read ...

“What is that?” asked Bill.

The figure charged at them. Arf knocked it down and bill stabbed it through the chest. It fell to the ground with a big thump! Thick, black blood poured out of the figure.

“Thank goodness that's dealt with,” said Arf.

“I wouldn't be so sure!” said Jonk.

Look she pointed into the distance. More figures appeared in the fog. The things gave choking screams and their brittle legs, which were covered in shrivelled skin, trotted through the snow. They bolted across the thick floor of snow and dashed towards them through the darkness.

“Oh come on!” said Bill.

They couldn't deal with all of them. So they ran far, far away. They were safe.

But, that's what they thought …
